ABOUT THE FILMMAKER
"It's not about the tea you drink, but the spirit you bring to your tea drinking."
Christy Hui is the Director/Writer/Producer of TEA: The Drink That Changed The World, on a mission to preserve tea traditions and celebrate humanity through tea culture. A lifelong tea aficionado who grew up watching her father practice Gong Fu Cha in China, she spent seven years creating this TEA Documentary, gaining unprecedented access to film in China's forbidden tea region of Wuyi Shan—the heart of tea history.
Over her 7-year film journey, Christy discovered that the more she learned about tea, the more there is to know. The tea realm is mystical, boundless. Through immersive tea gatherings, she fulfills her purpose of enriching people's understanding and appreciation for tea, as this simple beverage holds timeless values that elevate the human spirit for mindful living in our increasingly digital world. #TeaSpirit

Best to watch the film before the event for optimal immersive experience as Christy takes you behind-the-scenes with stories and fun facts, but it’s not necessary. This Tea Event enhances your appreciation for the colorful tea culture and history, whether you're new to the film or a repeat viewer.
What is this tea event suitable for?
Perfect for deepening your tea knowledge, connecting with like-minded tea enthusiasts, experiencing authentic Chinese tea culture, galloping in the auspicious Chinese New Year of the Horse, and gaining exclusive filmmaker insights you can't get anywhere else!
What should I wear? What's the dress code?
Casual and whatever makes you feel comfortable and best connected to tea! Feel free to wear cowboy/cowgirl hats, stylish afternoon tea gear, gloves, or anything tea-fancy. We welcome all expressions of tea style—I’m sure you’ll look BREWtiful!
Can I bring someone who's not a tea drinker?
Absolutely! History buffs, film fans, art enthusiasts, and anyone interested in learning will find this equally fascinating. Often, people begin their tea journey through such serendipiTEA!
What kind of teas will I be tasting?
You'll taste authentic Wuyi Oolong tea and Wuyi Black teas—both Lapsang Souchong—the original invention with smokey aroma, as well as the modern innovation of refined Black tea known as Jin Jun Mei, without the smokey aroma. These teas are produced in the mountains where we filmed the documentary.
Will I learn something new even if I'm already a tea expert?
Chances are good that you’ll learn something new. I’ve been drinking tea all of my life, and making this tea film taught me that tea is a bottomless subject; it’s what makes tea so special. And you’ll connect with fellow tea lovers, sipping good tea together.
Can I ask the filmmaker anything?
Yes! Our Q&A is completely open. Ask about filming challenges, tea master insights, favorite teas, or anything that sparked your curiosiTEA.
Is this suitable for children?
Absolutely! Children ages 6+ are welcome. This Tea Event is designed to be engaging, entertaining, and educational. Tea is a family-friendly, fun learning experience. I encourage young history buffs and tea-lovers to ask questions.
What if I need to cancel my registration?
You may cancel by emailing us (as early as possible, please!) Due to the limited space and admin complexity, we do not offer refunds, unfortunately. However, we are happy to accommodate if you’d offer your seat to a family member or a friend. We appreciate your emailing us 72 hours before the event so we can amend our list.
